Bukit Tabur

Update: Bukit Tabur Tragedy

Chinese Papers reports that the families of both doctors were training for Mount KK hike.

This seems a logical explanation and should put all speculations to rests. However, shouldn't the English media also mention something to this effect., if true? Whichever way you look at it, the tragedy may and could have been avoided if they had opted to go as a group, with other like minded companions, or least with an experienced hiker.
Those who regularly participate in such activiites would know that first and foremost, it is imperative not to go alone or at least with an experienced person.
Secondly, time and light is of the essence. Make sure there is enough time to go in and get out before darkness falls, failing which always carry a torch. Thirdly, make sure that one is adequately prepared in terms of footwear, clothing, food, water, first aid, and ever the life saver, handphone. (May not be able to use if no signal but at least still handy as torchlight and in certain cases, be used as a tracking device!).

Mount KK is becoming increasingly popular as destination for hikers and tourists out for a different kind of holiday. Those who are likewise planning hiking trips to build up their fitness need always to remember this tragic incident to take the best necessary precautions.

At this moment, our condolences go to the families of the late doctors.
