First sight of guilin; cloudy or is it hazy day?
Arrival in Guilin city.
This the view from outside our hotel in guilin: RMB 200 per nite. Its considered 3 star; next to it is the 4 star Vienna Hotel which directly faces the Banyan Tree Lake Park.
Vendor selling Ox Horn combs outside the hotel.It was a dull almost wintry day despite the fact that it was suppose to be springtime. After checking in we proceeded to dinner just round the corner. Among the first dishes that arrived: fish!
More food.
HotPot on a cold night: wonderful!After dinner, with the drizzle coming down, we recced the area around the hotel for medium and budget hotels. Turns out this was a major tourist area, as round the corner we happened upon a night market. Here's one of the stalls selling bbq food on stick.
We walked round the beauthiful Banyan Tree Lake Park. Unfortunately, the pics didnt turn out well here: too dark. We strolled along the main thoroughfare of Guilin taking in the sights of the main shopping streets before returning to our hotel. Not knowing how to turn the heater on, it was a cold cold night!
