in the end we left at 11.30 am nad had to pass throught the BAtu Caves area where the devotees were just about (hopefuy) finishing their visit to the temple. It was smooth going till we hit the roundabout and turned left and there was the traffic jam, parked cars along the highways and the millions of people throghing the Batu Cave temple area plus devotees going up and down the steps. Quite a sight! Kavadis could be seen going up the middle lane of the steps created specially for them. This is my first time witnessing the event upclose (not really close, but close enough). Here's a pic taken from NST:
Plenty of tourists as well. I'm not the only one fascinated by the sight; the youngest girl has voiced her 'intention' to visit next year!
Neways, we left the jam and shot off to Raub, reached the camp at 1.30 pm, and had a reunion of sorts with our NS girl, handed over chocs from her sis, books, doughnuts, etc. She's on duty next week so no visit.
On the way back, we had to pass the Caves again and the crowds were still there!
The evning ended with a nice quiet dinner at Ying Ker Lou Hakka restaurent at the Curve. Sorry no pics 'cos we finished the food and then only remebered the camera, we were that hungry! Maybe next time.
